First Lady Angela Holland-McCallum is a Christian, mother, teacher, engineer, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, friend, sister, and the wife of the Rev. Dr. Anthony A. McCallum, pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Columbia, South Carolina. She has become a role model for women through her four main initiatives and advocates for spiritually healthy families, women ministries, Christian education, and the deaf and hard of hearing communities.
When people ask First Lady Angela McCallum to describe herself, she doesn’t hesitate to say that first and foremost, she loves the Lord Jesus Christ, her husband, their children, their grandson, their extended families, and the Bethlehem family.
But before she was a mother — or a wife, engineer, or Christian leader— she was Mazlee and Louise Holland’s daughter. The last of eight children. The Hollands’ humble beginnings began in Shelby, North Carolina. Mazlee worked various jobs, and Louise was a housewife. They raised Angela and her older brother and sisters until Angela was school age; then, Lousie worked in the textile industry while skillfully managing a busy household filled with love, laughter, and applying Christian life lessons.

First Lady’s dedication, loyalty, and commitment earn her God’s favor. He blessed her through many awards, such as Bethlehem Woman of the Year, Women in Management, The employee of the Year, and The recipient of the “Living the Legacy” Award from the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.
In 1985 after graduating with an undergraduate degree, she worked at various companies, including but not limited to Colite, Club Car, Select Comfort, ITT Automotive, United Technologies, Bose, and Cutler-Hammer.
In 1990 she lived in Laurinburg, NC, where she later met Anthony McCallum, who would become the love of her life. The marital union produced two adorable children, Tiffany and Anthony ll. In 2014 God also blessed them with a grandson, Titus McCallum.
After a few years in the ministry, First Lady discovered that her true calling and passion are serving God, teaching the word of God, and serving the deaf community.
From the beginning of the McCallum’s union, they both shared a love for the Lord and teaching His people. She and her husband were instrumental in development ministries such as the dance ministry, children’s church, single ministry, couples in Christ, and Women and Men bible studies. First Lady currently serves as a Christian Education Teacher in various capacities, including Sunday School, Women Bible Study, and other church ministries. She also teaches ASL and Interprets for the Bethlehem Baptist Church community and friends.
First Lady has continued her efforts to support and inspire through her charismatic teaching to the young and senior people during her time as First Lady.
First Lady Angela attests that God has been good to her; she expresses this through her favorite song, “ When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus and All He’s Done for Me My Soul Cries Out Hallelujah, I Thank God For Saving Me.”
First Lady Angela’s lifestyle is exemplified within her favorite scripture, Psalms 27:1, “ The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?!
Her legacy will show that she is just an instrument to serve, inspire, edify, and glorify God. She wants the world to know that God is faithful to His promises.
